Note:  Terri and Michael Church are returning to the United States.

We celebrated our final service in Cluj on 1 July 2012.  The future of the English Mission is now in the hands of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Romania, and of the wonderful community that has gathered around the Word and sacraments with us.

At the moment, there are no plans to hold English worship services at the Lutheran church. Hungarian services will continue every Sunday at 10:30, and German services on the final Sunday of each month, at 11:30.

We will leave this website in place for a few months, in the hope that it will provide some information to those who may be interested.  We will also post occasional updates on our blog (click here to stay in touch).

The International Church in Cluj-Napoca, Romania

The English Mission of the Evangelical-Lutheran Churh offers worship, study and fellowship for English-speaking Christians in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The International Church is a new initiative, begun in September, 2009.  It has two resident pastors, the Rev. Michael Church and the Rev. Terri Luper Church.  (About Us)  Our pastors work closely with the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Romania and its bishop, the Rev. Deszo Zoltan Adorjani.

A Local Church -- and An International Church

Our church is not new!  We are part of the Transylvanian culture, and have been located here for since the time of the Reformation.

At the same time, the outreach to English-speakers is a new mission, a gesture of hospitality.  It is a place for visitors and sojourners to meet, refresh their spirits, and feel connected to one another and to God.

Whether English is your native language, or simply one of many that you use for work, study or travel -- you are welcome here!

Come Worship With Us!

Our church building is located in central Cluj, at B-dul 21 Decembrie 1989, No.1, just off the Piata Unirii and across from the Melody Hotel.

If the church door is locked, enter through the large brown door to the right (towards the Sora Shopping Center), which opens onto the courtyard.
